Mural by Des Parker, Photos and displays - Free Admission - Open 8am - 5pm Monday to Friday, 8am - 11.30am Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays
"The Burg" is part of the Award Winning Peterborough Newsagency.
"The Burg" is a slang term that was often used by the townspeople in the 1900s when referring to Peterborough or "Petersburg" (as it was known till 1917.)
"The Burg" contains a 20 metre mural depicting the history of the town from its early beginnings to the current day. It took local Artist Des Parker 12 months to complete and was done using pastels and paint. Complementing the mural are several static displays of local tourist attractions, a history room plus several television screens that showcase the town and local area in the form of slideshows. Recently a 30 inch screen has been added with a 30 minute presentation on the history of the town which plays continually.
The attraction can be accessed through the Peterborough Newsagency at 185-189 Main Street from 8 am to 5.30pm Monday to Friday and 8am to 12pm Saturday, Sunday and Public Holidays. We are closed on Christmas Day and Good Friday.
Entry is free.

Our very first market was in July 2009 and over the past 5 years we have had lots of people enjoying all that our wonderful stall holders have to offer. Most of stall holders have been with us from the very first market so we really appreciate their support.
We are always looking for new stall holders as our regular customers which include visitors from interstate and other towns in our area are always on the look out for something different and of course homegrown, handcrafted, homemade is our new motto but trash/treasure is also welcome! Our stall rates are very reasonable at just $10 plus insurance if you do not have your own public liability.

The Peterborough Motorcycle & Antique Museum is not just for motorcycle enthusiasts. Although motorcycles are on view as soon as you enter the museum, hesitant wives and motorcycle widows can take heart. At the rear of the motorcycle museum and in an adjacent room is a esoteric collection of antiques and collectables for you to browse. While the rev-head of the family is drooling at the two wheeled toys, you can enjoy browsing the rest of the collection. Bed and breakfast is also available through the motorcycle museum in neighbouring Tennyson Hall.

One of Peterborough’s newest tourist attractions is “Greg Duggan Nature Reserve”, situated at the top of “Tank Hill”. Named after Greg Duggan, one of South Australia’s most gifted, and knowledgeable, amateur naturalists, this 10 hectare Reserve is home to a wide range of local flora and fauna, with several species of Native plants found there being extremely rare in South Australia. These plants are Mallee Hop-bush (Dodonaea subglandifulera - Endangered), Two-bristle Greenhood (Pterostylis biseta - one record only) and Ashy-haired Swainson-pea (Swainsona tephrotrich - Rare)
Mr Duggan, a Council employee, has spent much of his free time during his life to studying the birds, plants and reptiles in the Peterborough District, and has compiled a check list of the many bird species found locally, and which is available from the Council Office for a minimal fee.
In purchasing the Reserve as a future tourist attraction, Council chose to name it after Greg in recognition of his continuing contribution to the local environment, and our greater knowledge of our surroundings. “Greg Duggan Nature Reserve” has an observation deck which allows a full panoramic view of Peterborough and its surroundings. A number of easily-accessible walking trails, seating, and interpretive signage help make the visit an informative, and enjoyable, one. “Greg Duggan Nature Reserve is reached by following Government Road to the top of “Tank Hill”. Camping is not permitted.
In 2001 the Peterborough print shop closed its doors.
The last printer to run the place left the shop as it had been for decades: ink jars open, full of grand old machines and bursting with print dockets and jobs dating back to 1920s.
Last year the Peterborough History Group, with the support of the Peterborough Council, took custodianship of the abandoned shop and began the mammoth task of cleaning and preserving the historical documents and objects within.
